Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Chicken
Gives the broth its body and savoury flavour as it cooks.
Green corn
Adds sweetness and starchy body to the soup as it simmers.

The step that matters

Simmering the corn gently. A gentle simmer keeps the corn tender and the broth clear. A hard boil can toughen the corn kernels and make the soup cloudy.

Swap the parsley

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (chicken, corn, pepper):

  1. Basilfits better
  2. Cuminfits better
  3. Corianderfits better
  4. Parsleythe original

Fit is the average pairing score against chicken, corn, pepper. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
