Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Cream
Whipped to soft peaks, it gives the dessert its light, rich body.
Milk
Adds liquid and softness, thinning the cream into a pourable mixture.
Castor sugar
Sweetens the cream and helps stabilise the whipped structure.
Gelatine
Sets the liquid mixture into a firm, sliceable dessert when chilled.

The step that matters

Strain the dissolved gelatine into the cream mixture. Gelatine must be fully dissolved and cooled slightly before it is added. If it is lumpy or too hot, it can form strands or melt the whipped structure, and uneven distribution leaves weak or rubbery patches once chilled.
