Suet Crust, Rich
Ingredients
Directions
Remove the skin from the suet and finely shred and chop it.
In a bowl, mix the flour, breadcrumbs, suet, salt, and baking powder.
Gradually add water to form a paste that is soft enough to roll out but not sticky.
Roll out the paste carefully to avoid breaking.
Recipe from a historical cookbook (Internet Archive).
Transcribed from a scanned cookbook and modernised for today's kitchens. Where the book gave no heat or time, or said "a moderate oven", the temperatures and times here may be modern equivalents rather than the book's own figures.
