Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs
What each ingredient does
- Almonds
- Provide the main flavour and body of the soup as they simmer in the milk.
- Milk
- Forms the liquid base that the almonds soften and flavour during simmering.
- Flour
- Thickens the soup when cooked with butter and stirred into the liquid.
- Butter
- Combines with flour to form a roux that helps thicken the soup smoothly.
- Cream
- Adds richness and a smoother, silkier texture at the end.
The step that matters
Stirring the flour and butter mixture into the soup. Flour thickens best when cooked with fat and added gradually, so stirring it in steadily while the soup is hot helps prevent lumps and keeps the texture smooth.
