To Boil Asparagus

Ingredients

Directions

  1. With a sharp knife, lightly scrape the stems of the asparagus from one to two inches of the green tender points.

  2. Place the cleaned asparagus in cold water until ready.

  3. Tie the asparagus in bunches of equal size and cut the large ends evenly.

  4. Bring plenty of water to a boil.

  5. Toast a slice of bread, half an inch thick, on both sides until golden brown.

  6. When the asparagus is tender, remove it from the boiling water immediately to preserve color and flavor.

  7. Quickly dip the toasted bread into the boiling water before serving.
