Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Isinglass
Sets the cream into a firm, sliceable structure as it cools.
Cream
Provides richness and a smooth, creamy texture.
Preserved pineapple
Supplies the main pineapple flavour and sweetness, with fruit pulp adding body.

The step that matters

Incorporate the isinglass and mix well. If the isinglass is too hot it can fail to set the cream, and if it has already set in lumps it will not blend smoothly. Letting it cool slightly without setting keeps it liquid enough to disperse evenly through the cream.

Swap the pineapple

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (cream, sugar):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Strawberryfits better
  3. Raspberryfits better
  4. Pineapplethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against cream, sugar. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
