To Preserve Oranges Carved

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Select the largest and finest Seville oranges.

  2. Cut the rind in any desired shape with a penknife and carefully remove the peel.

  3. Make a small hole at the stalk end, about the size of a sixpence, and remove all the pulp without breaking the orange.

  4. Soak the oranges in saltwater for two days, changing the water each day.

  5. Boil the oranges in a large quantity of water to remove any remaining bitterness.
