Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Whipped whites trap air for lift, while the yolks set into a rich, tender structure.
Cheese
Adds savoury flavour and a creamy richness to the yolk mixture.
Suet
Provides fat for frying, helping the underside brown and release cleanly from the pan.

The step that matters

Folding in the beaten whites. Whites hold air only while they are stiff. Folding gently keeps that air in the mixture, so the omelette stays light instead of deflating into a dense, flat layer.

Swap the parsley

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (egg, cheese, pepper):

  1. Parsleythe original
  2. Dillfits about as well
  3. Thymefits about as well
  4. Nutmegfits less well

Fit is the average pairing score against egg, cheese, pepper. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
