Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Cream
Whipped air and fat give the frozen biscuit its light, rich body.
Sugar
Adds sweetness and keeps the frozen texture softer by lowering the freezing point.
Vanilla extract
Adds aroma that rounds out the flavor of the cream.

The step that matters

Whip to a stiff froth, then stir down and re-whip. Cream whips because air is trapped around fat droplets. Over-whipping pushes the fat too far, so it clumps and turns grainy or buttery, and the frozen texture suffers.
