Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Cream the butter and sugar together.

  3. Add the beaten eggs alternately with the sifted flour, beating for five minutes.

  4. Stir in the ground almonds.

  5. Spread the mixture into a baking tin lined with oiled or buttered paper.

  6. Bake for 15 minutes.

  7. Remove from the oven, brush with egg, and sprinkle the chopped almonds on top.

  8. Return to the oven for another 15 minutes, or until firm and golden.

  9. Once cooled, cut into finger lengths or diamonds and arrange in a pyramid.
