Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Sylhet oranges
Supply the aromatic peel oils and juice that flavour the brandy.
Good brandy
Acts as the alcoholic base that extracts and holds the orange flavour.
Sugar-candy
Adds sweetness and body to the finished liqueur.

The step that matters

Leave the mixture for 36 hours. Once the sugar-candy is added, the sugar must dissolve fully into the brandy and the crushed orange so the liquid sweetens evenly. Stopping early leaves uneven sweetness and weak flavour.

Swap the orange

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (sugar, brandy):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Apricotfits better
  3. Raisinfits better
  4. Orangethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against sugar, brandy. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
