Why it works: Apple and lemon are a kitchen classic. They rank in the top 14% of all ingredient pairs, and cooks put them together in 7,551 recipes. Both carry trans-2-nonenal, which smells cardboard, fatty. The science ↓
Curry Sauce
Ingredients
Directions
Chop and slice the onion and apple.
In a saucepan, heat the butter or dripping with the curry powder and fry for 20 minutes without browning.
Mix in the flour smoothly, then add the stock and salt.
Stir until it boils, then let it simmer for 20 minutes.
Finally, add the lemon juice.
For a smoother sauce, strain it through a sieve.
