Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Butter
Adds richness and a silky coating that carries flavour across the beans.
Lemon juice
Adds acidity that brightens the buttery flavour of the beans.

The step that matters

Drying the beans before adding butter. Heating the drained beans until dry lets surface water evaporate, so the butter clings to the beans instead of thinning into a watery sauce.

Swap the white pepper

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (beans, butter, lemon):

  1. Parsleyfits better
  2. Thymefits better
  3. Sagefits better
