Apple Pie

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Peel, quarter, and slice the apples.

  2. If the apples are not ripe, stew them in just enough water to prevent burning until soft.

  3. Sweeten and season the stewed apples to taste.

  4. If the apples are ripe, do not stew them before baking.

  5. Fill the pie plate with the apples.

  6. Cover with a thick crust.

  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 45 minutes.
