Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Gelatine
Sets the mixture so it holds its shape when chilled.
Chocolate
Provides the main flavour and a firm, rich body.
Whipped cream
Adds air and fat for a light, creamy texture.
Lady fingers
Form the outer shell that holds the mixture in the mold.
Powdered sugar
Sweetens the chocolate mixture.

The step that matters

Folding in the whipped cream gently. Whipped cream holds its texture through trapped air bubbles. Vigorous stirring deflates them, leaving the set dessert dense instead of light.
