How to Freeze Desserts
Ingredients
Directions
Crush ice finely in a burlap bag using a mallet or axe.
Place the can with the mixture to be frozen in a wooden tub and cover it.
Pack three measures of ice with one measure of salt around the can, pressing down with the mallet handle.
If freezing a small quantity, pack ice and salt just above the mixture level.
Turn the crank slowly to expose the mixture to the ice and salt.
Once frozen to a mush, turn the crank more rapidly, adding more ice and salt if needed.
