Orated Ham

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare the ham

  1. Cut a piece from the thickest part of the boiled ham and trim off the fat.

  2. Grate the lean part and place it in the center of a platter.

  3. Slice the fat and arrange it around the edge with tender hearts of lettuce.

  4. Chop the remaining scraps of ham and fat finely.

Bake and serve

  1. In a baking dish, layer bread crumbs, then the chopped ham and fat, repeating until all is used.

  2. Top with a few bits of fat, pour over a little water or dressing, and bake until golden brown at 400°F (200°C).
