Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Heavy cream
Provides fat and richness, giving the frozen ice cream a smooth, creamy texture.
Pineapples
Supply the fruit flavor and acidity; sugar draws out their juice to form the syrup.
Powdered sugar
Sweetens the fruit and, dissolving into its juice, helps soften the texture of the frozen dessert.

The step that matters

Freeze the mixture as quickly as possible. Fast freezing keeps ice crystals small, so the ice cream stays smooth rather than grainy or icy.
