What each ingredient does

Coffee, ground
Provides the flavor and aroma compounds that the hot water extracts into the brew.
Eggshell, crushed
Its mineral particles help settle the fine coffee grounds, clearing the liquid.

The step that matters

Stir in the crushed eggshell mixed with cold water. The cold water and eggshell must be added to a boiling brew so the grounds can settle; adding them too early or stirring poorly leaves the coffee cloudy.
