What each ingredient does

Fine ground coffee
Provides the main coffee flavor and body; a fine grind extracts flavor readily from the boiling water.

The step that matters

Pouring the boiling water slowly. Pouring slowly lets the water saturate the grounds evenly and extract flavor steadily, rather than channeling through quickly and leaving the coffee weak or uneven.
