Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Heavy cream
Whipped into soft peaks, it gives the dessert a light, airy, creamy body.
Gelatin
Sets the mixture as it chills, giving the dessert its firm, sliceable structure.
Strawberries or raspberries
Provide fruit flavour, acidity, and moisture to the dessert.
Sugar
Sweetens the dessert and helps dissolve into the fruit for an even flavour.

The step that matters

Dissolve the gelatin in water and strain it into the fruit mixture. Gelatin must be fully dissolved before it is added, or it forms lumps and uneven set. Straining removes any undissolved bits so the texture stays smooth.
