Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Leftover roast chicken
Forms the main savory filling and provides most of the patties' bulk and texture.
Puff pastry
Its layers of fat and dough separate and puff into flaky, crisp layers as it bakes.

The step that matters

Seal the edges. A tight seal keeps the filling inside while the patties bake. Escaping juices can make the pastry soggy and stop the edges from puffing properly.

Swap the parsley

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (chicken, pepper):

  1. Garlicfits better
  2. Thymefits better
  3. Rosemaryfits better
  4. Parsleythe original

Fit is the average pairing score against chicken, pepper. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
