Cure for Liver Complaint

Ingredients

• 1 ounce liverwort
• ½ ounce extract of dandelion
• 370 grains saltpetre (about 2.5 teaspoons)
• ½ ounce glycerine
• 40 drops wintergreen oil
• 2.5 ounces alcohol
• 1 pint boiling water
• 1 pint cold water

Directions

1. Steep liverwort in 1 pint of boiling water on the back of the stove for about 3 hours without boiling.

2. Strain the mixture and then add 1 pint of cold water to the liverwort and strain again to extract all the strength.

3. Combine the strained liquid with glycerine, wintergreen oil, and alcohol.

4. Take 2 teaspoons of the mixture three times a day after meals.
