Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Chicken
Forms the main protein, and cooking sets its muscle fibres into firm, sliceable meat.
Butter
Adds fat that carries flavour and helps the skin brown and stay moist.
Stewed mushrooms
Add moisture and savoury, earthy flavour to balance the grilled chicken.

The step that matters

Turning the chicken frequently on the grill. Frequent turning spreads the heat evenly, so the skin does not scorch before the thickest parts cook through. Fully cooked poultry should be reached without drying the meat, so watch the heat and the cooking time closely.
