Ingredients

Directions

  1. Sift the flour into a pan and add salt.

  2. Slowly pour in the lukewarm water while stirring constantly.

  3. Add the yeast and mix thoroughly, adding flour until a stiff dough forms.

  4. Place the dough on a floured surface and knead vigorously for 20 minutes, adding flour to prevent sticking.

  5. Divide the dough into loaves and shape them as desired.

  6. Place the loaves in pans and lightly coat the tops with sweet drawn butter.

  7. Set the pans in a warm place to rise, covering lightly to keep off dust and air.

  8. When the loaves have doubled in size, make a lengthwise slit on top with a sharp knife.
