Milk Bread

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Scald the milk and let it cool.

  2. In a bowl, mix the flour with the butter until combined to make a sponge.

  3. If making rolls, add sugar to the mixture.

  4. Let the sponge stand until light.

  5. Add enough flour to knead the dough thoroughly.

  6. Let the dough rise again, then work it over as before.

  7. Shape the dough as desired.

  8. Place the dough in an earthen vessel covered with tin; no greasing is needed while rising.

  9. Butter the top of the dough before placing it in pans to rise.

  10. Do not cover with a cloth while baking.
