Horse Ointment

Ingredients

• ½ cup yellow rosin
• ½ cup beeswax
• ½ pound hog's lard
• 2 ounces honey
• ½ pound common turpentine
• 2 ounces finely powdered verdigris

Directions

1. Melt yellow rosin in a clean vessel.

2. Add beeswax and hog's lard, melting each before adding the next.

3. Stir in honey and turpentine, boiling gently until dissolved.

4. Remove from heat and stir in powdered verdigris.

5. Strain through a coarse sieve into a clean container.

6. Discard the dregs.
