Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Chicken
Provides the main protein, which firms and turns opaque as it cooks through.
Butter
Adds richness and helps the chicken brown in the pan.
White wine
Adds acidity and depth that lifts the flavour of the pan sauce.
Sauce chasseur
Forms the savoury base of the dish, coating the chicken in a rich sauce.

The step that matters

Return the wings to the pan. Wings should be kept warm and rejoined only near the end so they stay hot and do not overcook while the sauce simmers.

Swap the parsley

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (chicken, butter, olive, brandy, white wine, sauce):

  1. Garlicfits better
  2. Thymefits better
  3. Tarragonfits better
  4. Parsleythe original

Fit is the average pairing score against chicken, butter, olive, brandy, white wine, sauce. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
