Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Veal
Provides the main body of the loaf and its meaty texture once cooked.
Eggs
Bind the mixture and help it set firm when baked.
Bread crumbs
Absorb liquid and help keep the loaf moist and tender.
Cream
Adds moisture and softness to the loaf.
Butter
Adds fat for richer flavor and gentle browning on the surface.

The step that matters

Mix and knead until well combined. Thoroughly working the fine-chopped veal with the eggs and crumbs distributes the binders evenly, so the loaf holds together when sliced instead of crumbling or setting in pockets.

Swap the onion
