Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Chocolate
Provides the main flavour and body of the drink once melted and mashed smooth.
Milk
Forms the liquid base of the drink and carries the chocolate flavour.
Rich cream
Adds fat and richness, giving the drink a smoother, fuller mouthfeel.

The step that matters

Mashing the chocolate until perfectly smooth. Any lumps of chocolate left before the hot milk is added will not melt evenly and will remain grainy in the finished drink. Softening the chocolate with boiling water first helps it become smooth.
