Corn Bread

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare the batter

  1. Sift the cornmeal into a large bowl.

  2. Add salt and baking powder, then mix well.

  3. Gradually add enough water to create a thin batter.

  4. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise.

  5. Once risen, stir the batter well.

Bake

  1. Pour the batter into a baking pan.

  2. Bake in a slow oven at 300°F (150°C) until done.
