What each ingredient does

Loose tea
Provides the main flavor and aroma as its leaves release compounds into the hot water.
Boiling water
Extracts flavor from the tea leaves and carries it into the brewed drink.

The step that matters

Cover the teapot and steep for 5 minutes. Steeping green tea too long releases more bitter compounds from the leaves, so timing the infusion matters for a smooth, balanced cup.
