Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a moderate oven”. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Chop the walnuts, celery, and onion using a food chopper.

  2. In a bowl, combine the chopped mixture with stewed tomatoes, eggs, salt, pepper, and butter.

  3. Mix in the boiled rice until well combined.

  4. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and cover it.

  5. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour, uncovering for the last 30 minutes.

  6. Serve with sauce made from the liquid part of the tomatoes.
