Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Use sweet and fresh whole wheat flour stored in a dry place.

  2. Warm a wooden or earthenware vessel to mix the ingredients.

  3. Dissolve yeast in warm milk and add sugar and salt.

  4. Mix in the flour gradually until a dough forms.

  5. Knead the dough thoroughly to develop air bubbles.

  6. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size.

  7. Shape the dough into loaves or scones and place on a baking sheet.

  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until golden brown.
