Jelly Roll

Oven, in the book's wordsA quick oven

Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a quick oven”. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Prepare pound cake batter.

  2. Spread the batter in a thin square on parchment paper.

  3. Bake in a 400°F (200°C) oven until golden.

  4. While warm, remove the paper and spread with pure fruit jelly.

  5. Starting from one edge, roll the cake into a log shape.

  6. Wrap the roll in paper to maintain its shape until cool.
