Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Cream
Whipped cream adds richness and a light, airy body to the dessert.
Gelatine
Sets the liquid mixture so the dessert holds its shape when chilled.
Milk
Thins the cream and adds mild dairy flavour and softness.
Castor sugar
Sweetens the dessert.
Vanilla essence
Adds a fragrant vanilla aroma and flavour.

The step that matters

Dissolve the gelatine and cool it before straining into the cream. Gelatine must be fully dissolved to set evenly. If it is still hot when added, it can melt the whipped cream's air and thin the mixture. If it is too cold, it may set in lumps or streaks before it mixes in.
