Fruit or Jam Turnover

Oven, in the book's wordsA moderate oven

Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a moderate oven”. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Roll out the pastry thinly and cut into 4-inch rounds.

  2. Place a small amount of fruit or jam in the center of each round.

  3. Moisten the edges with water and fold the pastry over to form a triangle.

  4. Seal the edges carefully and turn them over.

  5. Brush lightly with cold water and sprinkle with castor sugar.

  6. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes.
