Green Apple Pie

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Pare and core the tart apples, then stew them gently until they form a stiff, smooth sauce.

  2. Flavor the sauce to taste and pass it through a sieve or colander; set aside to cool completely.

  3. Bake a pie crust and fill it with the cold apple sauce, being generous with the sauce.

  4. Cover with whipped cream or a top crust, or leave it uncovered, and sift plenty of sugar and grated nutmeg over the top.
