What each ingredient does

Tomatoes
Provide the main body and moisture of the salad, which is drained first to limit excess liquid.
Cucumbers
Add crisp, cool texture and fresh bulk to the salad.
Cooked dressing
Binds the vegetables together and adds richness and tang.
Whipped cream
Adds fat and a light, creamy texture that softens the salad.
Worcestershire sauce
Adds savory, tangy depth to the vegetables.

The step that matters

Draining the tomatoes. Tomatoes release a lot of liquid as they sit. Draining them before mixing keeps the salad from becoming watery, so it holds its shape when frozen and turned out of the mold.

Swap the onion
