Chocolate Cream Cake

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Cut the cold butter into small pieces and fill a measuring cup with the pieces.

  3. Cream the butter and 1 cup of sugar together until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat the egg yolks until very light and mix in the remaining sugar.

  5. Combine the butter-sugar mixture with the egg yolk mixture.

  6. Add the flour and beaten egg whites alternately to the mixture.

  7. Blend in the melted chocolate and vanilla extract last.
