Ingredients

Directions

Make the dough

  1. Knead 2 oz. of butter, 2 oz. of sugar, and 8 oz. of currants into white bread dough.

  2. Warm the butter in ½ cup of milk.

  3. For a richer cake, add 1 oz. of butter or sugar, or 1-2 eggs.

  4. Mix in ½ cup of raw cream for improvement.

Bake and serve

  1. Bake in a pan until done; it will stay fresh for several days.

  2. If using carraways instead of currants, serve with butter at tea.
