Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Rice
Forms the tender outer casing that wraps and holds the apple.
Eggs
Bind the cooked rice so it holds together when wrapped and cooked.
Apples
Provide the fruit filling that softens and turns sweet during cooking.
Butter
Adds richness and flavour to the seasoned rice.

The step that matters

Securing the muslin. If the corners are not gathered and pinned tightly, the rice can loosen and the dumpling can fall apart or leak filling during boiling or steaming.

Swap the currant
