  1. Dissolve the Royal Yeast in warm water.

  2. Mix in rye flour, wheat flour, lard or butter, and brown sugar.

  3. Beat the mixture and let it rise overnight.

  4. In the morning, add warm milk and Indian meal, then enough rye flour to form a dough.

  5. Knead the dough and cover it, letting it rise in a warm place for 2-3 hours.

  6. Knead again and shape into loaves.

  7. If the dough shows any sourness, add 1 teaspoon of Magic Soda dissolved in warm water.
