Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Sugar
Sweetens the punch and balances the acidity of the citrus juices.
Lemon juice
Adds acidity that brightens the punch and balances the sweetness.
Currant jelly
Adds fruity flavour, colour and body to the punch.
Apollinaris
Adds sparkle and lightness to the chilled punch just before serving.

The step that matters

Chill until very cold before adding the sparkling water. Cold liquid keeps the punch crisp and slows dilution from the ice. Adding the carbonated water too early, or at a warmer temperature, lets it lose fizz faster.

Swap the currant

  2. Vanillafits better
