What each ingredient does

Grapes
Provide the juice and flavor that form the base of the wine.
Sugar
Adds sweetness and body, and sets the final flavor balance of the drink.

The step that matters

Bottle while hot. Boiling the juice and bottling it hot helps reduce the microbes that could start fermentation. Without that heat treatment, the sugary juice can ferment in the bottle.
