To Roast Meats in a Dutch Oven

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Put about 1 inch of water in the Dutch oven and season with coarse sea salt and black pepper.

  2. Make a mop by tying a clean rag to the end of a stick.

  3. Remove the lid frequently and baste the roast with the gravy to prevent it from becoming too dry.

  4. When done, remove the meat to a dish.

  5. Add 1 tablespoon of flour to the gravy to thicken it and pour over the roast.

  6. If your roast is thick or tough, parboil it in a camp kettle for 30 minutes to 1 hour before placing it in the oven.
