Raw-meat Diet
Ingredients
Directions
Prepare
Remove all fat from the rump steak and cut it into small squares without fully separating the meat.
Place the meat in a mortar and pound for 5 to 10 minutes.
Add 3 to 4 tablespoons of water and pound again briefly, then remove all sinew or fiber.
Add salt to taste.
Serve
Before using, warm the pounded meat by placing the cup or jar in hot water.

What each ingredient does
- Rump steak
- Provides the protein and fat that give the mixture its body and meaty flavour.
- Water
- Adds moisture and loosens the pounded meat into a softer, spoonable texture.
The step that matters
Pounding the meat. Pounding breaks down muscle fibres so the meat becomes softer and easier to eat. Removing sinew matters because connective tissue stays tough and chewy, and it is easy to leave in place when the meat is pounded into a mass.
