Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Ripe peaches
Provide the main flavor and the fruit pulp that gives the ice its body.
Lemon juice
Adds acidity that brightens the peach flavor and balances the sweetness.
Syrup
Adds sweetness and, by lowering the freezing point, helps keep the ice soft.

The step that matters

Churning until frozen. Churning breaks up ice crystals as the mixture freezes, keeping the texture smooth rather than hard and icy. Stop only once it is thick and frozen enough to hold its shape.

Swap the lemon

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (peach, syrup):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Apricotfits better
  3. Pearfits better
  4. Lemonthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against peach, syrup. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
