What each ingredient does

Pecans
Toast in the microwave to deepen their flavor and add a crunchy topping.
Kahlua
Adds liquid and coffee-liqueur aroma that softens and flavors the pecan mixture.
Brown sugar
Adds sweetness and helps the pecans caramelize slightly as they toast.
Mini brie cheese
Melts into a soft, creamy base that the warm topping sits on.

The step that matters

Microwave the Brie until just soft. Brie turns runny and can separate or go oily if overheated, so check it at the short end of the time and stop once it yields to gentle pressure.

Swap the pecans

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (sugar, brie, cheese):

  1. Walnutfits better
  2. Pecansthe original
  3. Almondfits about as well
  4. Sesamefits less well

Fit is the average pairing score against sugar, brie, cheese. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
