Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Honey
Provides sweetness and body to the dipping sauce, balanced by the acidity of lemon juice.
Avocados
Pureed, they add creamy moisture and richness to the shrimp filling.
Short pastry dough
Forms a crisp, flaky shell that bakes golden around the filling.
Shrimp meat
Adds savory, tender bites of protein to the avocado filling.
Lemon juice
Adds acidity that brightens the sauce and helps keep the cut avocado from browning.
Tomato paste
Adds concentrated savory depth and body to the sauce.

The step that matters

Seal the turnovers tightly. Pressing the edges firmly with a fork closes the dough so the moist avocado filling does not leak out and scorch during baking.

Swap the avocado
